The eBay Green Team is an initiative to educate and encourage more sustainable buying choices by eBay's 88 million customers.

An Empassioned Start

eBay's green initiative grew from a grassroots group of employees who started to green up the eBay office. � Gradually their influence spread and they took on bigger and bolder projects. � Their work caught the attention of eBay bosses who not only wanted to extend sustaining business practices but also wanted to involve eBay merchants and buyers.

The eBay Green Team site explains, 'Our employees' passion caught our attention and stimulated us to think about how we could do more. eBay buyers and sellers already make eBay the world's largest marketplace for used, refurbished and vintage goods. So in March 2009, we invited the eBay community to join in our efforts and commit to making smarter, greener shopping decisions.'

eBay Goes Environmental

The eBay strategy has three strands:

Environment friendly
eBay is designing a number of environment friendly products and this volataic solar bag is one of them. eBay is inspiring the world to buy, seel * think green everyday.

Encouraging recycling - making smarter, greener choices by re-purposing old products.

Spreading the word - a guide for consumers look up green products to make environmentally friendly purchasing choices.

Discussion and debate - a Social Forum plus Twitter and Facebook presence to keep the conversation going.
