Why should we join

The site is for vendors to promote their stores in a single marketplace. It signposts buyers to vendors’ online stores and then tracks their purchases. They are subsequently awarded bonuses for qualifying purchases.

Vendors therefore do not need to make any real effort as all the transactions are processed via their own site. They can leave it to ebates to take care of the promotion and the tracking.

There is no way to contact the site or find out about services from the landing page. The main site, once accessed, appears to have some FAQ options and an online customer service email contact for queries.

Ebates provides payment via PayPal. The site has generally good feedback on the web but there appears to be a lot of confusion over the small print relating to the payment, as well as the criteria for earnings being awarded. Many customers seem to have been caught out by the conditions within these.

Overall they appear to please some and frustrate others. Even if we look upon them in positive light, the very least they need to do is ensure their terms and conditions are clear, perhaps going so far as to streamline their processes and simplify their conditions.

There are no direct adverts on this social marketplace, just signposting to a range of online shops and stores.

The ebates site itself is not accessible without registering. This is a missed trick that gives the whole enterprise a decidedly dodgy feel, as most people don’t like to divulge their email address until after they have decided they wish to use a site. But ebates forces the issue and this seems over-aggressive. These guys need to take a chill pill, allow potential customers to check out what they have on offer and if people want to join up then they will.
