Another of Yahoo’s niche sites, this time offering shopping comparison and customer reviews with a slice of social networking for good measure.

How easy is it to compare prices on this site? Are the figures reliable and does it actually help you find a good deal? We did some price busting searches..
Yahoo Confuses

All results pages can be filtered by price but you can also pick out individual products to compare side by side or click on a product and compare it against the same item at a range of online stores.

We were very disappointed with the shopping comparison tool on Yahoo Shopping, being surprised by the lack of online stores listed, even when we tried to compare shops, products and brands.

There is also a ‘deals’ category which offers filtering by category and also lists coupons shoppers can obtain. However, this inexplicably sent us through to woot.com.

Overall this site has some good features but a few spanners in the works too.

Very important for shopping comparisons - how well organized are the product or service categories? Is it easy to find what you want to compare? Or is this a maze?.
There a five broad category tabs at the top of the home page which take you through to clear sub categories. The systems works swiftly and gets you where you need to be.

There is a wide range of product categories on this site, all of which are well stocked.

Our only disappointment is the lack price comparisons for the same model.  With so many items supposedly listed on this site we didn’t expect to come across this problem, which is a serious flaw.

How large is the brand range on this site? Are we limited to a narrow selection of big name brands or does this site offer real consumer choice?.
All the biggies are here and you can search by shops & brand to find them easily, either through navigation channels or from the search box.

Does the site offer a comprehensive product search tool? If so, how accurate is its findings?.
The search box works well and is a super quick route to the exact item you need. Once your listings come up you can take advantage of the navigational features to drill down to your specific needs.

Quality of the information. Here we look at the quality of the product comparisons, design and images on the website. Does the content give you a good idea of how the product looks and feels?.

Each listed item has a photo and a price with ratings and reviews on the product and the individual retailers offering it.  There are tabs which take you to detailed product specifications and features as well as the individual customer reviews.

The site gives a comprehensive range of information but in an uncluttered, orderly fashion that keeps you on the yahoo shopping site without needing to leave it to get a comprehensive picture of the items you are interested in.  You only need to leave the Yahoo site when you wish to make a purchase.
