Engadget have a bright, well-designed site, with lots of photos and short, sharp posts.

You can dip in here for a few minutes or wade deeper and longer.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

Considering there is such a lot of information on this consumer blog, the navigation does a sterling job.  However, there are still a few areas of confusion.

There are three main categories; ‘classic’, ‘HD’ and ‘mobile’ but these are not expanded upon on the homepage and you are left to explore them yourself. The sub menu fares way better though, with nice clear titles such as news, videos, topics and webcasts.

Lots of sub menus and filters help you to navigate through the site but somehow we felt that the homepage could have done a better job at signposting us around the site rather than send readers on their own journeys of self discovery.

Who writes this blog? Is it one person or a group of consumers? We looked at the description or bio of the bloggers to find out who or what company is behind this blog?.
The site does a great job at putting a human face behind the contributors.  There are glossy photos, well-written, personal bios plus extras like their favorite gadgets and latest posts.  Good job.

This is one vibrant online blog.  It is updated regularly with up-to-the-minute articles and has a real buzz about it.

Posts generate multiple comments and discussion.  The use of podcasts gives engadget a very current feel and allows them to deliver their messages in different formats.

Each shopping blog contain an overly large photo and are very short and sweet.  The site promotes news snippets of very current events but does not delve too deeply into anything.

What else can I do here? We gave extra points to sites with RSS feeds, images, video, mobile and audio..

This shop site now has a monthly video show which includes discussion and interviews.  This is broadcast as a podcast the following day.There is also a video section, photo gallery and RSS feed.
