Woot is a cult shopping site that offers one item a day at discounted rate.  We took a look at their consumer blog to assess its ‘cool’ factor.

How does the site look? This parameter evaluates the overall design and gives extra points for any innovative techniques..
Sellout sells out
The design is far from inspiring and looks like something any of us could set up from home.  It is very black and white, has a few, small photos scattered around the site and a list of past blogs.  And that is literally it.  In some cases ‘less is more’ but in this case it leaves us snoring.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..
There isn’t really much content to navigate around but you can click on past  shopping blogs to catch up on those you missed.

Who writes this blog? Is it one person or a group of consumers? We looked at the description or bio of the bloggers to find out who or what company is behind this blog?.
There are no details of the whacky people behind Woot.

Why is it different to other shopping or consumer blogs? Why does a shopper need this content? We graded on originality and innovation..

Woot’s online shoppping blog ties in with the item for sale on any given day. In fact it ties in so much that it is actually the text that is used under the product on the main site.

Not sure why they feel the need to have the same text on their site in two different places.  It didn’t even light our fire the first time we read it.

And so it transpires that it is not just the design of this site that is boring….

OK so there is one difference, you can comment on the blog entry.  That’s about it for social options and differences to the main site.

Size isn't everything, but it counts right? Here we looked at the length of the posts..
This shopping blog was medium in length but that was way long enough for us. The blog has its own (‘studenty’) style and humor which will appeal to some but not to all.
