We all love to have a moan and what better way to do so than in the company of others? Complaints.com airs consumer grievances and shopping complaints, hoping to initiate official responses from the organizations under the spotlight.

We have a complaint
Design?  What design?  The site is largely black and white, devoid of graphics and is boring with a capital B.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

There are two search boxes, one where you can type in any subject or company to see if there are complaints about it and the other sorted by complaint which can be filtered by date or tag.

It works fine but the second search box would work much better as a menu of categories and sub categories.  In its present format there are an overwhelming number of tags, all in crammed on the page and type in too small a font. It feels like the contents of this consumer blog have overgrown its initial navigation tool.

Who writes this blog? Is it one person or a group of consumers? We looked at the description or bio of the bloggers to find out who or what company is behind this blog?.
The postings on this online shopping blog are from the public and not generated centrally.  All complaints are anonymous but there is a link to contact them by email.

Why is it different to other shopping or consumer blogs? Why does a shopper need this content? We graded on originality and innovation..
The idea is good as there is always more strength in a collective voice than a lone one.  However, the unimaginative design of the site lets it down.

There are no social options on complaints.com but there are plenty of viewer voices and public comments.

Size isn't everything, but it counts right? Here we looked at the length of the posts..
Individual complaints vary according to the poster.  Some are nice and concise others go on and on and on and on and on…..  There should perhaps be a pro forma with a word limit for each section to keep the structure of complaints in the same format and to the point.

Is this site up-to-date? Number of updated, relevant and quality news stories and product updates..
There are multiple complaints posted every day.  It seems that there are lots of disgruntled consumers out there.

What else can I do here? We gave extra points to sites with RSS feeds, images, video, mobile and audio..
This site is very basic.  They haven’t risen to the challenge of graphics yet so multimedia is likely a long way off.
